WHITTIER - Santa Fe High School knocked out top-seeded La Mirada with a 27-26 victory in Friday's CIF-Southern Section Southeast Division second-round game at Pioneer High School.
The Chiefs (8-4) advance to next week's semifinals against Downey, which beat Norwalk, 45-42.
La Mirada ends its season with a record of 9-2.

Alvarado's score, which came with just over 9 minutes remaining in the third quarter, capped a six-play, 65-yard drive.After Santa Fe kicker Eddie Mendez delivered a pop-up kick on the ensuing kickoff, the Chiefs quickly regained possession when they recovered at La Mirada's 44-yard line.
The Chiefs capitalized on their opportunity when Mendez made a 35-yard field goal.
La Mirada quickly responded on its next possession, which resulted in Adam Carrasco's 34-yard scoring run.
After Mendez increased the Chiefs lead to 27-20 with his 26-yard field goal, the Matadores put together a 13-play, 70-yard drive that finished with Gerry Myres' 1-yard touchdown on a quarterback sneak.
Myres'
score came with 2:26 remaining in regulation. Two key plays during the Matadores drive included two Myres' completions to Tyler Luatua, which were for 20 and 18 yards.The Matadores missed the extra point which allowed the Chiefs to maintain a 27-26 lead.
La Mirada then attempted an onside kick, but Santa Fe recovered it at its 30-yard line.
After forcing the Chiefs to punt, the Matadores regained possession at their 15 with 1:29 left in the contest.
Santa Fe secured the victory by forcing three consecutive Myres incompletions that allowed the Chiefs to take over possession with 47.1 seconds left.
La Mirada closed the Santa Fe lead to 14-13 when Myres threw a 17-yard scoring pass to Dallis Shipp, which occurred with 20.9 seconds left in the first half.
